Today I want to share a video Tutorial that I’ve recorded last year. Maybe some of you have already watched it. But since I’m using the technique I describe in this video a lot in my post processing it’s time to dedicate a post to it.

My usual post processing workflow starts with the blending of multiple exposures. After doing this I continue to work on contrast and color. One goal throughout my processing is to preserve the dark and bright tones in my photos. I don’t want clipping. In Lightroom you can easily activate the highlight and dark tones warning by clicking on the triangles in the histogram. But in Photoshop such a tool is missing.

Here are two alternatives you can use in Photoshop, the second giving you a very similar display as the warning in Lightroom, but much more flexible.

If you like this tip please feel free to share it. More videos can be found on my Youtube Channel.
