Praia da Adraga is one of the most spectacular beaches along Portugal’s rugged coastline. It’s located near Sintra, just a 30-minute drive from Lisbon. The beach is cradled between two majestic headlands, creating an intimate cove that feels like a secluded paradise. Towering cliffs, sculpted by the relentless sea, frame the shoreline, and iconic sea stacks emerge from the waves, adding a touch of drama to the coastal panorama.
I’ve visited this beach more than ten times over the past ten years and always came away with different photos. The Atlantic Ocean constantly changes the appearance of Praia da Adraga through its pounding waves, making it a pleasure to return again and again.
I took this photo during a beautiful sunset on a stormy evening. The waves kept crashing on the sea stacks, and the sun illuminated the golden sand.
